Materials:
As a practice project before moving on to more complex printmaking techniques and skills, students created a drawing on sheet of styrofoam--the kind you get from take out boxes. We removed the flat piece of the box and used a dull pencil or ball point pen to draw a design. Students based artwork on combining two monuments or buildings from different parts of the world. Once they created their drawing by pressing the styrofoam, they painted a sheet of watercolor paper with various colors and used printmaking tools such as brayer, ink, and plexiglass to transfer the image to paper.
